My life have been pretty peaceful and well....flat. My family of four have a very strict mother who dun believe in pampering children. So whenever we fault, the "shang fang bao jian" will be the usual treatment ;-p I went through a primary school which is no longer around and sail into the next phase of my life in Victoria School. Being a rather bright student when I was younger, I do not face much difficulties in my studies.Being at Victoria School was not such a pleasant experience initially. I was the only student from my primary school to be posted to VS. I was rather lost as I've no one to turn to. Slowly, I begin to open out to the others and by the end of sec two, I'm no longer is a nerd which I used to be. I guess being a scout thought me alot of things. The child in me was relive here as I get the chance to be away from my family and learn to live a communal life with my pals.
Where every other Victorian dreams is to get to VJC and from there, to a local University. I've chose to take a different path. At that time, I was very sick and tired of the Singapore educational system and the paper chase with the "O", the "A", the degree and thereafter. I don't foresee myself going through the Cambridge system and thus chose not to attend Pre-U courses. I enrolled myself into Ngee Ann Polytechnic doing Electronic and Computer Engineering. I'm keen in the computer engineering part where we learn to do programming and such but I cannot stand the rigid course of the electronics and calculus. I decided that enough is enough and withdrew from the course after a year of studies. I was pretty surprised that my dad actually support my choice and let me do the decision.
After a brief stint of working in the retail line, I was enlisted to 7BTS for my Basic military training. Serving the National Service is part of growing up from every physical and mental able young man in Singapore. Life was tough in the beginning but I soon get use to the lifestyle and was actually enjoying it. Along the way, I've made a few great buddies but sadly, we drifted apart after our BMT when we were posted to different units. For me, it was the School of Naval Training. Did my course there and got posted onboard ships where I served the rest of my service for 2 years in the NAVY. Most of the time, in the 185 SQN, Missile Gunboat.
Now, I'm taking up a course in Visual Communication in Temasek Polytechnic. I should be graduating by mid 1999. From here on, I foresee myself to start working in the industry before furthering my studies overseas.
